Project Onyx originated from the experiences of two kids who found themselves increasingly frustrated by the restrictions placed on their ability to play games during class once they had completed their assignments. Both students shared a common interest in gaming but were hindered by the monitoring software Lanschool and the network security tool Global Protect, which effectively blocked their access to many of their favorite games.
Feeling annoyed and stifled by these limitations, they began to brainstorm potential solutions that would enable them to enjoy their games without interference. They understood that playing games could provide a welcome break and a way to unwind after finishing their academic responsibilities. Rather than simply accepting the situation, they decided to take matters into their own hands.
Through their shared determination and ingenuity, they embarked on a project aimed at finding a workaround to the restrictions imposed by Lanschool and Global Protect. Their goal was not only to create a way for themselves to play games but also to help other students who felt similarly restricted. As they collaborated, they realized that the project could evolve into something bigger—a platform that would empower students to reclaim their leisure time in a safe and responsible way. That vision ultimately led to the creation of Project Onyx.
